I was quite FRUSTRATED when I first tried blogging using my Nokia E90 Communicator's Opera Mobile yesterday. Franticly, I tried managing to post a blog twice and IT JUST FAILED ME! I'm not looking for a cohesive reason why the software did not respond to the things that it should do. But when you expect it to behave in a manner that you expect, it should do what it promises to do. It's just maddening and a waste of time in my part since it's early in the morning and I have work later that day whilst I should be sleeping during that time. But since I am a fan of blogging and a blogger wanna be, I will try to recall all those things using my very own Human Brain while using my ever dependable LAPTOP!
It is a no surprise to everyone that i had objections when they traded my space to a different area in my workplace. I tried convincing myself that that's what it is but a part of me is arguing that I should fight my way to stay in my previous area. As much as I wanted to insist being retained in my previous area, there is a definite fact that the hospital is pretty much being over controlled by the same person since it's conception.
Working here in my country is very much a hassle when you have no choice especially when you are trying to complete your working experience in exchange of living the life you want. Caring for your patients, attending to their needs, keeping them at peace - try doing that on a daily basis, one will easily burn out if they cannot manage to find an entertaining value to it.
February was a Rest Month for me. Being a registered Nurse is a no easy peasy job. Frankly speaking, I am almost at my brink when I finally decided that February is the month where i just put myself in hibernation mode. One will easily lose confidence especially if he or she is receiving a compensation just enough to spend on ones transportation fees. Coincidentally, it is the month where I am taking up my IELTS (International English Language Testing System) too.
During the course of my reviewing, i just spent my time reading online articles, listening to English Podcasts and Tutorials, and as a side dish, Facebook and Twitter is just a tab away when boredom strikes in. I also tried attending a couple of courses I availed in an unlimited English Review Center and that's it. I never tried to go beyond, pushing me to the limits of my grasp in English because as self assessed, I think I can make it.
Everyone knows that it is my second time to take this exam. This time, I have to surpass my previous scores. I am quite pressured because as a second timer, there is this feeling that this should be the second and the last exam that I will be taking, then I am off to a destination I think I should go. I hope I'll make it. GAH! Please HELP ME LORD! A 9 will be a gift tho :D
The first of my four subtest came across 24th of February somewhere in Makati City, Philippines. I was 26 minutes late when I got there. Luckily, it's just the Speaking subtest. If it had been the other subtest, I could have met doomsday! When I got there, I waited around a minute and my name's called by the receptionist. I walk through the hallway and sat on a chair waiting outside the room. My interviewer is a foreigner. He called my name and offered a handshake, I grabbed his hand acknowledging his gestures. The conversation went well (I think). A couple of times Mr. Interviewer signals me to stop talking, sometimes he gestures to continue talking. But here is the dilemma there, the Speaking subtest is one of the test in IELTS that I believe is subjective by nature. Although there are parameters available to gauge an individuals grasp of the English language, I still think it will depend on the interviewers assessment. I am not saying that I am complaining but the way it goes, one cannot eliminate the fact that some things are bound to happen.
The second part of my IELTS experience is the Listening, Reading, and Writing sub tests. Located also in Makati, I also managed to walk along the busy streets of the city blending in with the pedestrians alongside. Walking is I think a habit in Makati because of bus stops strategically located to have an order to the traffic passing by. I had some miss with some of the items in Listening and it's just frustrating. The Reading subtest is brutal! The Writing task is I think the easiest, I hope I am right this time.
And so I wait for 13 days after the exam. 13 excruciating days of waiting for the results. I just hope that they give me the right grade that I deserve. :)
Since I am now back at work, I will just have to burn time while working. Finally, this blog is done :D
